Sabal x Brazoriensis One Gallon:
$30.00
Sabal x brazoriensis. An ancient Hybrid between Sabal minor and Sabal palmetto. Faster growing than Sabal minor and eventually forms a trunk. Variable leaf color between green and blue. Since it is a hybrid between Sabal minor and Sabal palmetto there is sometimes variability in leaf shape and color. Some may have palmate leaves similar to the Sabal minor parent while some may have costapalmate leaves as does the palmetto parent.
As do many of us who have grown palms for 40 years or more, we recommend that some young palms be protected for the first few years when expecting very severe low winter temperatures. Use caution when using C-9 lights for heat that they do not come in contact with the leaves. It is most times better to use 4-5 layers of frost cloth wrapped around the bundled up leaves completely covering the foliage and flared out at ground level.
