Vintage Solstiss French Lace – Ecru Floral Couture Lace – Two-Piece Lot
An exceptional opportunity to acquire authentic vintage Solstiss French lace, offered as a two-piece lot with its original manufacturer identification labels still present.
Made in France by Solstiss, this elegant lace features an extraordinarily detailed floral composition worked across a delicate sheer net ground. Solstiss is a historic French lace house based in Caudry, France, with generations of lace-making expertise and an extensive archive of designs.
The design is particularly striking for its combination of airy transparency and richly worked floral ornamentation. Scattered floral sprays extend gracefully across the sheer ground, while the border becomes dramatically more elaborate with larger flowers, scrolling foliage, ornamental flourishes, and a beautifully shaped scalloped edge.
This is not ordinary craft-store lace. The original Solstiss labels identify the material and French origin, making the lot particularly appealing for couture sewing, bridal design, restoration, textile study, costume design, heirloom projects, or a vintage fabric collection.
Original Solstiss Identification
Maker: Solstiss
Country of Manufacture: France
Style: 407638
Color designation: ECRU LC
Fiber content: 70% Viscose / 30% Polyamide
Width designation on original tag: 88 cm
Approximate measured width: 35–36 inches
The manufacturer\'s ECRU designation is important: visually, the lace presents as a soft off-white/cream or ivory-ecru rather than a stark optical white. Because perception of whites varies considerably with lighting and displays, please refer closely to the photographs.
Two-Piece Lot & Measurements

Approximately 1 yard 15 inches long x 35–36 inches wide
Weight: approximately 3.2 oz.
Piece 2:
Approximately 2 yards 7 inches long x 35–36 inches wide

The pieces are being sold together as one lot and are not one continuous 3.61-yard length.
Design & Character
The lace features an intricate floral pattern arranged over exceptionally fine sheer netting. Delicate bouquets repeat throughout the field, creating an elegant floating effect, while the ornamental floral border provides considerably greater visual weight and detail.
The scalloped border incorporates large blossoms, leaves, curling botanical forms, and finely worked decorative elements. The tonal ecru coloration gives the material a romantic, understated appearance especially suited to bridal and couture applications.
Possible uses include bridal gowns, veils, overlays, sleeves, bodices, couture dresses, eveningwear, lingerie, historical costume, theatrical wardrobe, heirloom sewing, textile restoration, decorative panels, fashion archives, or display.
Solstiss itself identifies Chantilly lace as one of its most refined lace forms and notes its characteristic delicate, often floral designs. Based on the construction and appearance here, this has strong Chantilly-style characteristics; however, I would not claim a specific lace construction beyond what the original label confirms unless independently authenticated.
Condition
Vintage pre-owned/deadstock textile in very good overall condition for its age. Both pieces retain original Solstiss identification labels, confirming French manufacture, style, color designation and fiber composition. The lace displays beautifully with elaborate floral detailing and scalloped borders. As vintage lace, minor age-related storage wear, slight variations in tone, occasional loose fibers, small pulls or other subtle imperfections may be present. No attempt has been made to professionally clean, whiten, steam or alter the material. Please examine the detailed photographs carefully, particularly the fine net ground and borders, as they form an important part of the condition description.
Collector & Couture Appeal
What significantly elevates this lot is the combination of Solstiss provenance, original labels, Made in France identification, substantial usable yardage, wide format, and elaborate floral border.
Modern Solstiss French lace remains a premium textile: current examples on the company\'s retail site include French Chantilly lace around $89.50–$126.85 per yard, while an off-white French bridal lace example is listed at about $90 per yard. Those aren\'t direct valuations of this vintage pattern, but they provide useful context for the quality tier represented by the Solstiss name.
Note: Colors may vary slightly due to lighting and screen settings. Please review all photos carefully as they are part of the description.
