Herbert Read, The Green Child.
Dust jacket designed by Alvin Lustig.
1948, First American edition, introduction by Kenneth Rexroth. Hardcover. Published by New Directions. Jacket now housed in a custom mylar protector.
Very Good in a Good dust jacket. Sound binding; clean and unmarked contents; no odors; light wear to spine ends and corners. The dust jacket has faded along the spine; some light tearing to the spine ends has been neatly mended on the back with archival tissue paper; a few other shallow tears to the edges; light handling/grubbiness overall, but nothing extreme; partially erased pencil mark to top corner of rear panel; original price of 2.75 is present. In my opinion, one of the best and most \"artsy\" dust jackets that Lustig ever made. It\'s a perfect mid-century design, influenced by the abstract expressionists. It\'s also a nice size - a tiny bit bigger than the New Classics.
Rare on the market + as a bonus I\'m throwing in a promotional Lustig bookmark that New Directions made about 10 years ago to coincide with the publication of their Lustig postcard set.
